Top Pick: #7 (CARRUMBA) (3-1) – Lightly-raced Phipp’s runner has won three in a row after finishing second in her first pair. Grey daughter of ‘Bernardini’ won at this distance Aug 21 at Saratoga and she looks like she has a very bright future. She gets a slight edge.
2nd Pick: #1 (Peace and War) (4-1) – Daughter of ‘War Front’ ships back from Keeneland where she raced very wide after breaking from an impossible post (14th of 14) in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) Oct 30. Strong finisher was in fine form prior to that and is a win candidate.
3rd Pick: #3 (Wonder Gal) (9-2) – New York bred moves in with tougher company after winning a $200K stakes for fellow state breds Oct 24 at Belmont. It was one of her best overall efforts and came off a 2 1/2 month break.
4th Pick: #5 (Pangburn) (10-1) – Steady performer has placed in a number of two-turn stakes without winning. She won her only previous race at this distance and has a shot at a big price.
