THE REAL ANIMAL SPORTS
2* Louisiana Tech -2 (now -2 1/2):
Western Kentucky was extremely fortunate to win in Nashville last week against Vanderbilt. The Commodores had a 20-11 edge in first down with a 393-274 advantage in total yards. Twice Vandy threw interceptions into the Hilltoppers’ end zone. Plus it is hard to ignore last year’s result of Louisiana Tech 59 Western Kentucky 10. The Toppers were held to their season-low in total yards (297) while allowing 507. Last week LA Tech QB Jeff Driskel threw more touchdown passes (4) than incompletions (3). Skip Holtz’ Bulldogs have a very good track record on the road and as a chalk. They are 16-11 SU on foreign fields the last four years and 8-3 ATS when laying wood away. One thing we know for sure. The Western Kentucky defense is horrible. It is impossible to forget the 49-48 ATS defeat to Central Michigan last year. Plus they allowed 66 points to Marshall in their regular-season finale, albeit overtime. In 2014 the Hilltoppers allowed 39.9 points per game and it was a miracle Vanderbilt didn’t go for at least 24 last week. I’ll take LA Tech less than a field goal. The one thing that keeps this game off the premium service is Western Kentucky was +159 yards per game at home last year compared to -29 on the road.
