The Yankees and Astros played a 3-game series in New York from August 24th-26th. Tonight’s starter for Houston, Dallas Keuchel, was a winner in the team’s 15-1 victory. The southpaw held the Yankees to just three hits over seven innings of work.
Keuchel’s only loss in three career starts against the Yankees came last season when he gave up 3 runs and seven hits in eight innings of work.
New York’s Masahiro Tanaka’s only experience with the Astros came in Houston back on June 27th. He was shelled in that game for 6 runs and seven hits in five innings pitched. Carlos Gomez (2-2), Chris Carter (2-2), Carlos Correa (2-3), and Luis Valbuena (3-9) have had the most success against Tanaka.
The one question mark is how the young Astros will handle the spotlight, especially playing in New York. The Yankees have been in this pressure situation before whereas Houston has not, so that is a concern in backing the Astros in tonight’s game.
