Carolina vs. Colorado
Pick: Over

It’s the Denver Colorado baseball park – Coors Field – and not the hockey arena that’s known for high-scoring games, but perhaps some of those big numbers are starting to rub off on the Pepsi Center – home of the Avalanche. Take a look at the Av’s results this season so far. Their first three games were against the Wild, Stars, and Bruins (all at home) and the scores were 4-5, 6-3, and 2-6, for a total of 26 goals in those three. Then Colorado went on the road for the next two games and the scores of those were 3-0 (in Anaheim) and 1-2 (in Los Angeles). Now the Avalanche is back in the Mile High City and they’re facing a team whose goalie – Carolina’s Cam Ward – has a saves percentage of .867 and a goals-against average of 3.31 in four games so far. The Avs’ goalie situation hasn’t been much better this season and it appears that they have stripped struggling Semyon Varlamov of his starting job as Reto Berra was inserted in the Bruins loss and has started both games since. But if he gets the call tonight, it will be his first start this season at Pepsi Center and last year Berra had very average numbers here. The over is 5-0 in the last five meetings here in Colorado.
