    ‘Millionaires’
    Valparaiso (-2½) over George Washington
7:00 PM (EDT) — Madison Square Garden
    Millionaires — Valparaiso
Valparaiso comes into the NIT Championship game playing very strong basketball. They just missed out on being in the NCAA Tournament and have used that as added motivation. Both teams are similar in points scored, but Valparaiso is the better defensive team. Valparaiso is averaging 75.6 points per game while giving up 62.4 points per game.Valparaiso also has a definite rebounding advantage in this matchup. Three key stats to this game are huge pluses for the Crusaders. Valparaiso is shooting 72.5% on free throws, 36.1% on three-pointers, and 44.5% on all field goal attempts. Alec Peters is their star and in a close fought battle, defense, free throws and a go-to guy are a must!!

    7-Unit Play. #714 Take Valparaiso (-2)
    over George Washington
    (7 p.m., Thursday, March 31)
This is our last selection of the 2015-16 College Basketball season, and we’re going out a winner just like Valpo will tonight in the NIT Championship. It’s been another strong year for Byrce Drew’s program, and one more win here makes 31 victories on the season. This will be the program’s most winning season yet, and they’ve earned it. We bet the Crusaders on Tuesday in the semis against BYU but had to settle for a push as Valpo couldn’t hold onto their double figure halftime lead. But we get the cash with them a few days later in this spot. Valparaiso is on a mission to send its senior class out right as winners. This unit has done so much over the last four years, and combined with what the junior class has done as well, this veteran team is loaded with winners and proven collegiate players. Tonight’s game is the culmination of a lot of effort grinding out results over the years from Horizon League play in hopes of playing in the postseason. Granted this year didn’t finish with an NCAA Tournament birth, but you could argue this is an even better opportunity for the program and its players. The chance to win your last college game in New York City and land the program a major postseason title, that’s pretty special. Well, this is a special group, and they reach that goal with the win over George Washington. Valparaiso wins the NIT, 69-65.

    4-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 133
    GW vs. Valpo

    (Thursday, March 31st at 7:00 p.m.)
My spreadsheet has Valpo winning this game by a final score of 71-69. The key components in this matchup are style of play and recent form.

GW played a low scoring game last time out (as we know) but they have been playing some really high scoring games in this postseason. They like to push the ball and they generally aren’t strong on the defensive end. Valpo can shoot the lights out when they are on. Both teams can get buckets in transition and again, defense isn’t at the forefront for either team.

I look for the adrenaline to be high again tonight in Madison Square Garden but this time I look for both teams to play their game and the points should come. Both teams average just over 75 ppg and it wouldn’t shock me to see them get to that number tonight. My spreadsheet has the final score a little bit lower than that but this should still be an easy cover.

    Take the Over.
