The Chicago Cubs are certainly poised to make a run to the World Series. Their resume has them as a cinch to make the playoffs this season, and an attempt to end a World Series Championship drought of more than a century. With a 3.59 ERA, Jon Lester has deserved better than his 9-10 record on the season, and he has pitched very well in three starts vs. the Cardinals with an ERA of 1.96. Carlos Martinez has seemed to hit the wall. After a great start, he has been anything but great over his last seven turns, pitching to a 5.13 ERA. The Cubs made a loud statement in their win last night, moving them to 24-5 in their last 29 vs. a right-handed starter.
