On March 22, 2016 at Barclays Center, Charlotte picked up their third win of the season vs. the Nets and notched their first outright season-series victory vs. Brooklyn since the 2010-11 season.

Charlotte held Brooklyn to an opponent first quarter season-low 14 points in the opening frame. Charlotte enhanced their biggest lead of the game to 17 midway through the third quarter, but the Nets drew the game even with 1:14 remaining in the third.

Charlotte had to put up a season high tying 38 points to ward off Brooklyn in the fourth to seal the victory.

Jeremy Lin paced Charlotte with 21 points off the bench, with Nic Batum adding 23 points. Brook Lopez led the Nets with a game-high 29 points.

With the win at Philadelphia on March 29th, the Hornets notched a 13-3 record (8-2 at home and 5-1 on the road) in the month of March, setting a franchise-high for wins in a month , passing the 12 win record, which was last reached during January of the 2009-10 season.

Charlotte had only won 12 games in a month three other times in franchise history (March 1998 –12-3, April 1999 –12-3, Jan. 2010 – 12-4).

Head Coach Steve Clifford was awarded the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for March. Clifford, who previously earned Coach of the Month honors in April 2014, became only the fourth coach in Charlotte NBA history to win the award and the first to do so multiple times.

The Hornets are now averaging 103.0 points per game this season, which ranks fifth all-time in Hornets history and is the first time the team has averaged over 100 points since they did so when they averaged 102.8 points per game during the 1995-96 season.

In 2014-15, the team averaged 94.2 points per game. Charlotte’s +8.8 points per game increase from last season ranks first in the NBA. The most points a Hornets team has ever averaged was 104.5 points per game during the 1988-89 season.

Charlotte’s been taking the care of the ball again in 2015-16, after leading the NBA in least turnovers in 2014-15. The Hornets are first in least turnovers in the NBA with 12.5 per game and first in the Eastern Conference. The Hornets have had 20 games where they’ve turned the ball over fewer than 10 times. The team set a franchise record low for turnovers with four vs. OKC on January 2nd.
