The Warriors have won 14 of the last 17 against the Suns, including six-straight, which matches a franchise-best streak against Phoenix (previously achieved from 2/13/12 – 4/5/13). The Warriors have won eight-straight at home against the Suns, which also matches a franchise-best streak (previous: 3/18/75 – 2/17/78). Golden State is seeking its first season series sweep against Phoenix since 2012-13 (4-0).
On February 10th, the Warriors posted the best winning percentage entering the All-Star Break in NBA history, earning their 11th-straight win to improve to 48-4 (.923), which is the best record through 52 games in NBA history.
Golden State improved to an NBA-best 24-4 (.857) on the road this season, with the club’s 24 road wins tied for its second-most victories on the road in a single season in franchise history. The Suns outshot the Warriors in the first quarter (.524-.500), entering the second frame trailing by just one point, but Golden State outscored Phoenix by 13 points in the second (28-15) and never looked back, ultimately securing the victory by eight points.
Stephen Curry finished with a game-high 26 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in 30 minutes, shooting 5-of-10 (.500) from three-point range and becoming the first player in NBA history to hit at least one three-pointer in 100-straight regular-season road games. Curry did not appear in his 15th fourth quarter of the season. Klay Thompson scored 24 points and swiped a career-high-tying five steals.
At 58-6 (.905) this season, the Warriors own the best record in NBA history through the season’s first 63 games. The Warriors have won 46 straight regular-season home games (28 straight this season, 18-straight last season), the longest such streak in NBA history.
The Warriors are 28-0 at home to start the season, setting a record for the franchise’s best home start (previous: 12-0 in 1975-76).
Golden State clinched a berth in the 2016 NBA Playoffs and will make its fourth-straight playoff appearance for the first time since qualifying for the postseason in each of the first six years of the league’s existence (1946-47 to 1951-52). The Warriors are the first team to clinch a playoff berth in February since the 1987-88 Lakers.
Golden State is the fastest team to reach 50 wins in a single season in NBA history, doing so in 55 games (the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls previously held the record, reaching 50 wins in 56 games).
The Warriors have earned their seventh 50-win season in franchise history, winning at least 51 games in three-straight seasons for the first time ever. The Warriors had never won 50-plus in back-to-back seasons prior to the previous two campaigns. The Warriors will play 13 of their remaining 19 games at home.
The Warriors have set a franchise record by recording an NBA-best 33 game this season with at least 30 assists (next most in the league is Atlanta with 13 such games). The Warriors have also set a franchise record with 10 games this season with at least 35 assists, becoming the first team to tally at least 35 assists 10 times in a single season since the Cleveland Cavaliers did so 19 times more than 20 years ago (1992-93).
The Suns are 2-10 in the first game and 3-8 in the second game of back-to-backs this season with one sweep.
